RuFARS 2021

It is with great pleasure we would like to announce that, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences University of Ruhuna has successfully concluded the 4th Annual Research Symposium, RuFARS 2021 on 26th August 2021. This is a unique event in the calendar of the faculty. Due to the current pandemic, this year it was organised as a fully virtual research symposium for the first time by the faculty. It was indeed founding a milestone in the history of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.  The symposium was based on the theme ‘Health for Humanity; Leading the Way’. Fifty-one scholars representing different higher education institutions all over the country presented abstracts on their valuable research findings in the fields of Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences etc. The presence of the Chief Guest Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna added inspiration to the event. A thought-provoking Keynote speech was delivered by Professor Shalini Sri Ranganathan, Professor in Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo on “Ethics and Professionalism in Research”. This time the symposium was chaired by Dr. Sewwandi Subasinghe. The symposium certainly provided a platform for more than 350 participants to network with the researchers in the field and to enhance knowledge about the current trends in health science research.
