Dr. RHMPN Rathnayake, Senior Lecturer,
Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied
Health Sciences delivered an Oration on
“Sarcopenia; a scantily addressed, highly
imperative area of aging in Sri Lanka”, at the
Annual Academic Sessions of Sri Lankan
Association of Geriatric Medicine (SLAGM),
held on 31st March 2022, at the Galle-Face
Hotel, Colombo.
Ms. KDSV Karunanayaka, a Lecturer
attached to the Department of Pharmacy,
Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University
of Ruhuna successfully completed her
postgraduate studies, Master of Philosophy in
Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of
Ruhuna, Sri Lanka with the effective date of
01st January 2022. Her research topic was
“Formulation of alcohol-based hand rubs and
non-alcohol-based hand scrubs using Aloe
vera and selected essential oils and evaluation
of antimicrobial efficacy”. This research study
was carried out under the supervision of Dr.
Sujeewa K. Hettihewa, Senior Lecturer,
Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Allied
Health Sciences, University of Ruhuna, Dr.
Dharshan De Silva, Consultant Physician and
Clinical Pharmacologist, Department of
Pharmacology, Medical Research Institute
(MRI) and Dr. Lilani Karunanayaka,
Consultant Clinical Microbiologist,
Dr. P Wijesiriwardhana, Senior Lecturer, Department of Bacteriology, MRI. The study
Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences received a research grant
